Tinne (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tinne was a Swiss measure of volume for wine and was used in the Principality of Basel . After the introduction of the metric mass, especially the liter , in 1877, the carrying vessel referred to as the carrying measure remained just a vessel without a measure function. Tinne was similar to the Setier or bucket , or the Brente in western Switzerland. It was an inaccurate measure.

  • 1 tinne = 24 to 27 pots / mass = 40 to 57 liters
