Tiphia unicolor (Syn .: Tiphia ruficornis or Tiphia polita ) is a hymenoptera fromthe wasps family (Tiphiidae). Tiphia polita was viewed by some authors as a separate species, as the tegulae of these animalsare colored differently, but this is probably due to variability within the same species.

features

The wasps have a body length of 7 to 8 millimeters (females) or 6 to 8 millimeters (males). The animals are colored black. In females, the underside of the antennae is red-brown. The females have a row of dots on the first tergite in front of the rear edge. The forewings have two discoidal cells and two cubital cells in both sexes. The stigma is small in females and normal in males. The side panels of the propodeum are shiny in the females, and shagreen in the males. The thighs ( femora ) of the females are thickened, those of the males are slender. In both sexes, the splints ( tibia ) are thorny.

Occurrence and way of life

The species is distributed in the south and center of the western Palearctic . It flies from mid-May to late August. The larvae parasitized beetle larvae.
