The Tirsuli (also Tirsuli I ) is a 7074 m high mountain in the Himalayas in Uttarakhand ( India ).
The mountain is located in the eastern Garhwal Himalayas in the Nanda Devi Biosphere Reserve . The Milam Glacier is located on the east and southeast flank, the Bagini Glacier on the southwest flank and the Siruanch Glacier begins in the north . The 7151 m high Hardeol rises 2.6 km south of Tirsuli . A mountain ridge leads west to the 7035 m high Tirsuli West, 1.61 km away . Another ridge leads to the north-east to the 6180 m high Chalab .
Ascent history
In 1939, the two Poles Adam Karpiński and Stefan Bernadzikiewicz were killed in an avalanche accident while attempting to climb . The first ascent was made on October 9, 1966 by an Indian expedition (Nirapada Mallik, Shyamal Chakrabarty, Nima Tashi and Sherpa Dorji) over the eastern flank of the southeast ridge.
