Table cheek

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The underframe of a table has found its way into the coat of arms as a common figure under the table cheek , table support , table base or table frame and is represented differently. The chair frames also belong to this group of figures.

This rare coat of arms figure may in all heraldic tinctures in arms be, but black and gold is probably popular for these mostly arms-length figure. Johann Siebmacher and Hilmar Hermann Weber point out in the “Grosses und Allgemeine Wappenbuch” that they can be confused with house brands (Polish family coat of arms of Kotwic). The blazon or the description of the coat of arms must be very detailed in order to make this figure unambiguous (see also Plate XXVIII, Figures 18-25 in the above-mentioned lit.)
