Titular diocese of Quincy

The diocese of Quincy (Latin Quinciensis ) is a Roman Catholic titular diocese .

The diocese , located in the United States , was established on July 29, 1853 on part of the Diocese of Chicago . Repealed again on January 9, 1857, the diocese of Alton was established in its place , which in turn was renamed the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois in 1929 . Quincy was added to the list of titular dioceses in 1995 and was first occupied as such in 1996.
