Titus Omotara

Titus Omotara (born April 8, 1958 ) is a Nigerian table tennis player with an international career in the 1970s and 1980s. He won several medals at African continental tournaments and took part in four world championships and the 1988 Olympic Games . He has been working as a table tennis trainer since the 1990s.

Career

At the 1980 African Championships , Titus Omotara reached the final in doubles with Atanda Musa , and won gold with the Nigerian team. In 1988 he finished second in singles and won the mixed competition with Bose Olateju Kaffo. He was also successful at African Games . Here he won the team competition in 1978 and 1987. In 1987 he was also first in doubles with Atanda Musa and second in mixed with Bose Olateju Kaffo. In 1989 he reached the final at the Commonwealth Championships in doubles with Atanda Musa.

From 1979 to 1989 Titus Omotara was nominated four times for world championships , but never came close to medal ranks . In 1988 he qualified for participation in the double competition of the Olympic Games . Here he and his partner Atanda Musa managed only two wins in the group games with five defeats, namely against Alain Choo-choy / Gilany Hosnani from Mauritius and Andrei Masunow / Boris Rosenberg from the Soviet Union, which meant that the main round was missed.

After the end of his international career, he worked as a coach or player-coach, starting around 2016 at the Spanish club Peñaskal de Bilbao.
