The church was built from 1961 to 1964 according to plans by Ernst-Otto Rossbach and Hans-Hermann Priesemann at Weimarer Allee 60 and was intended to complement the Epiphany Church . It is a modern basilica in brick . As a result, the church, together with the flat construction, does not stand out significantly from the surrounding residential buildings. The church tower is free-standing and has a cuboid structure with a square floor plan and a flat roof. The ribbon of windows inside was designed by Ernst Günter Hansing . The altar cross and four candlesticks are by Heinz Heiber . The church is equipped with a block-type thermal power station and a photovoltaic system and thus produces its own electricity.
