Heinz Heiber (born July 26, 1928 in Breslau ; † April 25, 2003 in Nuremberg ) was a German sculptor . He designed squares, courtyards and fountains in many places. His works in sacred spaces, such as altars , baptismal fonts or Easter candlesticks, are particularly numerous in northern Germany.

After military service and imprisonment after the Second World War, Heiber began training as a stonemason and carpenter in 1946 . From 1948 to 1952 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Joseph Wackerle .

From 1952 he lived in Nuremberg, where he also created some works. This includes the so-called "Heiber Portal" in the St. Sebald Church . For the Bonhoefferhof in the renovated old town center of Ansbach / Middle Franconia , he designed a granite sculpture dedicated to the memory of Dietrich Bonhoeffer .

In the Gustav-Adolf-Gedächtniskirche in Nuremberg-Lichtenhof he created the "Triumphal Cross" which he named in 1953/53 and in 1964 the round window above the chancel.

Another work is the stone relief from 1962 “Christ's mission to Christians and their position in the world” in the market church of St. Georgii et Jacobi in Hanover .

The crucifix , baptismal font , lectern, three-armed candlestick and the door of the main portal of St. Petrus Church in Quakenbrück and the crucifix and pulpit plate of Melanchthon Church in Osnabrück are also bronze works by Heiber from the 1960s.

The entrance portal, cross , altar and baptismal font of the Evangelical Paul Gerhardt Church in Unna-Königsborn are from 1969 .

In the 1980s he created a large table altar (2.40mx 2.40m, 1984) and a light tree (1988) for the Marienkirche in Lübeck , on which visitors can set up candles.

In 1982 he designed a school yard area with two sculptures in Bochum . In 1995, the cross sculpture, altar table, baptismal font and candlestick in the sanctuary of Michael Church in Bochum-Langendreer were designed according to his designs.
