TlTx3 (synonym Kappa-theraphotoxin-Tb1c ) is a protein and neurotoxin produced by the giant tarantula Theraphosa blondi ( synonym : T. leblondi ).
properties
TlTx3 is formed in the venom glands, like TlTx1 and TlTx2 . It inhibits voltage-gated potassium channels of the type Kv4.2 / KCND2 by shifting the activation of the channel towards greater depolarization . Presumably, TITx3 binds to the S3-S4 linker in the voltage-dependent protein domain of the channel. It is related to heteropodatoxins and phrixotoxins . It has three disulfide bridges .
The toxins TlTx1-3 can be distinguished by mass spectrometry and by Edman degradation .
