Tleson painter
The Tleson Painter was an Attic vase painter of the black-figure style , whose works date from around 555 to 535 BC. To be dated. He is counted among the minor masters .
It is controversial in research whether the Tleson painter is identical to the potter Tleson . All works ascribed to him were signed by this potter, after whom he got his emergency name . However, not all of the potter's vases were decorated by the Tleson Painter. Typical for him are rim bowls decorated with roosters and hens, sirens , rams and deer . He applies the decorations to both the inside and outside of the bowls. He often varies well-known scenes. In addition to edge bowls, ribbon bowls are also known, which he decorated in a similar way.
