Tubbercurry (also spelled Tobercurry , Irish Tobar an Choire - "the source of the cauldron") is a small town in County Sligo in the north-west of the Republic of Ireland . The parish is on the N17 national road south of Sligo town towards County Mayo and Galway . The Ox Mountains extend to the west. Since the 1990s u. a. Due to the support measures of the EU, more industry settled, which leads to a constant development of the city. Nearby Knock Airport also offers flights to and from the UK and, in the summer months, continental Europe.

The site is first mentioned in 1397 as the battlefield of a feud between the O'Connor, kings of Connacht at the time .

In addition to a variety of pubs and a few restaurants, Tubbercurry has a 9-hole golf course. The annual highlight is the Summer School Music Festival. There is a week of teaching how to play traditional Irish musical instruments. In the evenings, music teachers, students and music-loving visitors come together in all of the pubs to make live music together. The event is known nationwide and attracts many young people. Furthermore, a theater festival for the regional amateur theater groups takes place every spring.
