The Toggenburg Mountain is a ski area in the US state of New York (State) . It is located in Fabius , 36 km southeast of Syracuse in Onondaga County .
The Toggenburg Mountain ski area was opened in 1953 as a goat farm . The founders Eugene Hickey and Harry Ehle named their ski area after the Toggenburg goat . Three years after it opened, Toggenburg Mountain consisted of a wide, open slope. Today there are five lifts and 22 slopes. Almost the entire ski area is suitable for night skiing.
Popular off-piste activities include snowmobile races and pond skim. The skiers try to get enough momentum on the slopes that they can ski over a pool .
