The Tokuyama Dam ( Japanese 徳 山 ダ ム , Tokuyama damu ) is a dam with a hydropower plant in Japan in the Gifu Prefecture, which was completed in 2008 . In addition to generating electricity, it is used for flood protection , water supply and irrigation. The barrier structure is a rock embankment dam .

history

  • In December 1957, the Ibi River was selected by the Electric Power Development Company for studies on the use of hydropower .
  • In May 1976 the Ministry of Construction issued the Bulletin "Principles of the Tokuyama Dam Project".
  • In December 1982 the project was reworked into a pumped storage plant with 400 MW.
  • In May 2000, work began on the main part.
  • In May 2004, the plan for the 400 MW pumped storage plant , which should start operating in 2008, was converted into a conventional storage power plant with 153 MW, which should start in 2014.
  • In September 2006, the trial construction of the reservoir of the Tokuyama Dam began.
  • In 2008, work on the dam's barrier structure was finished.
