Tokyo Prefecture Symphony Orchestra
The Tokyo Prefecture Symphony Orchestra ( Japanese 東京 都 交響 楽 団 , Tōkyō-to Kōkyō Gakudan , 都 響 for short , Tokyō ; English Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra ) is one of the most famous orchestras in Japan .
The orchestra was founded in 1965 by the prefectural government of Tokyo , founded to commemorate the 1964 Summer Olympics . The orchestra traditionally presents works by Gustav Mahler in particular .
