Tomáš Čermák

Tomáš Čermák (born February 8, 1943 in Ostrava ) is a Czech engineering scientist at the Technical University of Ostrava .

Life

Tomáš Čermák studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Brno from 1959 to 1964 . After graduating, he worked as an electrical engineer at the Klement Gottwald ironworks in Vítkovice . From 1968 to 1981 he was a research assistant at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Ostrava; in 1974 he received his doctorate at the Technical University of Brno . In 1981 he became an assistant professor for electrical engineering at the TU Ostrava. From 1977 to 1985 Čermák was deputy. Course director at the department for electrical machines and drives; from 1985 to 1990 its course director and deputy Dean.

In 1991 he was appointed full university professor. From 1990 to 1997 he was rector of the Technical University of Ostrava , from 1997 to 2003 he was its vice- rector for research and development and international affairs. From 2003 to 2010 Tomáš Čermák was rector of the TU Ostrava again. He was followed by Ivo Vondrák in February 2010 .

Act

Čermák was and is involved in numerous national and international bodies, such as Vice President of the Czech University Conference , member of the General Assembly of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (AV ČR) and founding member of the Czech Engineering Academy (IAČR) as well as the International Center for Eyecare Education ( ICEE). He is also a consultant at the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport and the Ministry of Economy and Industry.

He is a board member of Vesuvius (formerly Hinckley) Slavia Group and Ozobel

Čermák has published nine specialist books as well as numerous scientific papers and publications.
