Tomáš Zdechovský
Tomáš Zdechovský (born November 2, 1979 in Havlíčkův Brod , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech PR consultant, writer and politician of the Christian democratic party KDU-ČSL . He has been a member of the European Parliament since 2014 .
biography
In 1998 he graduated from the high school in Ledetsch . Then he obtained two master's degrees in pastoral assistant and free time teacher at the theological faculty of the South Bohemian University in Budweis . He obtained his third master's degree in 2008 from Masaryk University in Brno, where he studied media studies and journalism. He also obtained a bachelor's degree in political communication from the Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.
In 2004 he founded a PR and communications agency which he ran until he became a member of the European Parliament. Since 2006 he has also been teaching crisis communication, crisis management and crisis communication in politics at various universities.
Zdechovský is a member of the KDU-ČSL and worked from 2007 to 2008 as a regional manager for the party in the Pardubice region. In 2009 he ran for the first time for the European Parliament . He was 14th on the list of candidates and was not elected. In the 2014 elections he was elected to the European Parliament in third place on the list for the KDU-ČSL . He was re-elected in 2019. During his second European election campaign, he focused in particular on improving the quality of food in the Czech Republic , fighting for a time (in the "For Only One Time" initiative) and on the issue of immigration.
Tomáš Zdechovský is a big critic of the child protection policy in Norway and calls for it to be changed. As a member of the European Parliaments, he has been involved since 2014 in the case of Eva Michaláková, whose two children were abducted by the Norwegian child protection service.
He also spoke about the refugee crisis. In July 2015 he visited a couple of refugee camps in Sicily. He said that most of the people in the refugee camps there were actually economic migrants. He also criticized Greece for its neglect of the registration and control of refugees.
Since January 2020 he has also been one of the deputy chairmen of the KDU-ČSL .
