Tomás Gomensoro is a city in northwestern Uruguay .
geography
It is located in the area of the Departamento Artigas in its sector 9 approx. 110 km west of the departmental capital Artigas . To the northwest of the city is Bella Unión .
history
In 1908 the city was given its current name, which can be traced back to the former President of Uruguay of the same name, Tomás Gomensoro . She was previously called Zanja Honda .
Residents
The city has 2,659 inhabitants, of whom 1,286 are men and 1,373 women (as of 2011). and is currently the third largest city in the department in terms of population.
