Tom - A Real Friend is a Spanish animated series with a total of 39 episodes that was made between 1999 and 2007. Directed by Ernest Agulló, the book is by J. Hibbert and Chr. Matzerath. It is a European co-production between the EBU members BBC , ORF , RTBF , TSR , Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep , France 2 , France 3 , RAI , RTSI , TVE and ZDF , as well as Cromosoma and Norma Editorial (Spain), which was made in Spain.

The dinosaur Tom is in a different country or city in each episode. On his adventures Tom is mostly out and about with the two children Tip and Wanda. He is always hunted by the rich carousel and park operator Mr. Carter and his two henchmen Ms. Hatch, his former nanny, and Weedon, her nephew. The circus includes the clown Rupert and Mrs. Hamilton, who is also the director.
