history

Johannes Jacobi at the Winterclash 2010

In 2005 the Winterclash in Aurich was founded by Johannes Jacobi . He was given his first pair of inline skates at the age of 11, trained, became German champion twice and won a Swedish competition. Since then he has been organizing the winter clash out of idealism, without profit. From 2006 to 2008 it took place in Mühlhausen (Thuringia) every February and was always fully booked. Churches and private individuals agreed to provide accommodation for the many people who had traveled.

"I'm just fascinated by subculture."

- Johannes Jacobi : Tagesspiegel, February 12, 2010

In 2009 the event was to move to the largest skate hall in Europe in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium) in order to meet the now urgently needed space to grow. After six months of preparation and a four-week construction phase, the hall burned down the day before the event. A quick move to Eindhoven (Netherlands) enabled the Winterclash 2009 to take place despite the restrictions.

Winterclash 2010

In 2010, inline skaters from 36 countries met in the arena Berlin in the federal capital. A skate park , which was already used at major extreme sports events, was rented for the event and set up in the 7000 m² arena. 300 amateur skaters and 30 professionals, including the world champion from America, took part in the contest. The winner of the professional contest was Julien Cudot. The Winterclash 2010 took place for the first time under the conditions of a helmet requirement and the separation of the skatepark from the public. Previously registered press was given special permission to enter the danger area and the skate ramps only with an orange safety vest .

program

In addition to the professional contest, there is also a so-called girls' and amateur contest. The latter made the winter clash very well known. In the professional field, the Winterclash as part of the World Rolling Series is all about points for the overall ranking of the World Series.

In addition to the competitions, there are parties, including the “Afterclash”, and a “Tradeshow” in which the most important companies in the rollerblading industry present their latest products.
