Tom Busby

Tom Busby (born November 7, 1936 in Toronto , † September 20, 2003 in Glasgow ) was a Canadian actor .

Tom Busby was born in Toronto in 1936 to British immigrants who came to Canada in the 1920s due to the poor economic situation in Rhondda . When Busby was six years old, his father died of thrombosis . This had a serious impact on the family's standard of living. He left school at the age of 12.

His first contact with show business was in the CBC Television- produced Canadian version of the Howdy Doody Show . Busby took a liking to it, and so he began his acting career at the age of 14 when he joined the Summer Stock . The Summer Stock was a famous traveling repertory theater that performed in Canada and the United States . In the course of time, in addition to the theater, he also made his first appearances on television. In 1956 he moved to the United Kingdom and settled in London with his first wife Pauline .

In 1962, Busby had his first film role in We're All Doomed. In 1963 he played in Die Sieger . He had his best-known role in 1967 in The Dirty Dozen . In the early 1970s he moved to Glasgow, where he lived until his death. He played his last film role in 1986 in Heavenly Pursuits by Scottish director Charles Gormley .

The British author Siân Busby was the daughter of Busby and his future wife, Wendy.
