Tom Hood

Thomas Hood (born January 19, 1835 in Lake House, Leytonstone , London Borough of Waltham Forest , † November 20, 1874 ) was an English humorist and illustrator .

Tom Hood, son of Thomas Hood , studied in Oxford from 1853, where he successfully began his career as a poet with pen and pencil pictures (1856).

His second collection of poems Quips and cranks (1861), which was followed by numerous works, was equally fortunate . The following are to be stated:

  • Vere Vereker's vengeance (1864)
  • Jingles and jokes for the little folks (1865)
  • Captain Master's children , novella (1865)

  • Money's Worth , novella (1870)
  • Tetsetilla's posy, a fairy tale (1870)
  • Love and valor (1871)
  • The pleasant tale of Puss and Robin, and their Friends, Kitty and Bob. Told in pictures by L. Frölich, and in rhyme by TH (with illustrations by Lorenz Frølich , 1871)
  • The book of modern English anecdotes (1873) et al

From 1865 Hood directed the publication of the Fun .
