Thomas “Tom” G. Yellin (born January 2, 1953 ) is an American film and television producer .

Life

Tom Yellin graduated from Harvard College . After graduation, he found a job with CBS News in 1976 , where he was Associate Producer at CBS Reports . In 1980 he moved to ABC News and produced the television program Nightline from 1980 to 1982 in New York and from 1982 to 1984 from London. After returning to New York, he spent a year on ABC News' World News Tonight , where he met Peter Jennings . After a year, however, he returned to CBS News, and there produced the show West 57th .

In 1989 he finally moved back to ABC News. There he produced a number of television films and was responsible for the television documentary ABC 2000: The Millennium (1999), the twelve-part series The Century (1999) and Day One magazine . He also designed the documentary series Peter Jennings Reporting for ABC News with Peter Jennings . In 2002 he joined forces with this and founded the production company PJ Productions .

Tom Yellin founded the production company The Documentary Group in 2006 as the successor to PJ Productions. His best-known productions there include Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience , for which director Richard E. Robbins received an Oscar nomination, Girl Rising (2013) and the four-part play America in the Living Room . At the 2016 Academy Awards , he was nominated for an Academy Award for producing Cartel Land . Cartel Land was nominated for best documentary . However, the award went to Amy .

Private life

Tom Yellin lives in New York City with his wife . The couple have four daughters.
