Mohammad Khaled Soufi (born May 10, 1993 ) is a Syrian pool player .

Life

Soufi grew up in Latakia . He fled Syria in 2013 because of the civil war . He finally came to Germany , where he now lives in Rostock .

Career

At the age of eight years Soufi began playing billiards . In 2009 he took part in the U21 World Snooker Championship , but retired with only one win in the preliminary round. At the 9-Ball World Championship in 2011 he lost his opening game against Allan Cuartero and then in a competitive match 8: 9 against Qatar's Abdulatif Fawal . At the 8-Ball World Cup in 2012 , he was eliminated in the preliminary round without a win after losing 7-0 to Jordanian Noor al-Jarrah and Hong Kong's Lee Chen Man . In 2012 he was Asian champion . He was also a Syrian champion.

After his escape, Soufi started playing billiards again at PBC Schwerte 87 and took part in the German Tour from 2016. In January 2017 he reached the final of the German Tour 2016 final after defeating former German champions Thomas Damm and Sascha Jülichmanns as well as Farhad Shahverdi . In the final, however, he lost 4: 7 to the Swiss Dimitri Jungo . In August 2017 he took part in a Euro-Tour tournament for the first time, the Dutch Open 2017 . In Leende he defeated Mario He and Harald Stolka , among others , before he was eliminated in the round of 32 7: 9 against Christian Sparrenlöv . At the following Euro Tour tournament, the Klagenfurt Open 2017 , he reached the round of 16, in which he had to admit defeat to the Bosnian Sanjin Pehlivanović 8: 9 after a 6: 3 lead.

Team career

In October 2016 Soufi won the bronze medal at the German 8-Ball Cup with the second team of the PBC Schwerte 87 . Since the 2016/17 season he has been playing with the club's first team in the 1st Bundesliga . In his first Bundesliga season, he finished fourth in the individual rankings as the best player in his team.
