Tomasz Artur Makowski ( IPA [ˈtɔmaʃ ˈartur maˈkɔfsci], * 1970 ) is a Polish librarian, director general of the Polish National Library in Warsaw , head of the State Library Council and chairman of the Committee for National Library Collections at the Minister for Culture and National Heritage.

biography

Since 1994 Makowski has been working in the Polish National Library in Warsaw. Before he took up the position of General Director, he was Deputy General Director and Research Director, and he was also head of the special collections.

He is a member of the European Library , the National Committee of UNESCO - World Document Heritage , the Archives Council at the General Directorate of State Archives, the Program Council of the Book Institute, the Program Council of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute, the “Polish Libraries” editorial committee, the Council of the National Museum in Krakow, the Council of the Museum of Literature and the Museum Council of the Łazienki. In 2005 he was the curator of the exhibition on the Zamoyski library. He is junior professor at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw . He has published three books (1996, 1998, 2005) and written articles on library history and manuscript studies.
