Tomm Moore

Tomm Moore (born January 7, 1977 in Newry , Northern Ireland ) is an Irish animator and film director .

Life

Moore was born in Newry , Northern Ireland . His parents moved him to Kilkenny , Ireland , where he attended St Kieran's College . He studied at Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin . In 1998 he founded the Irish animation studio Cartoon Saloon with three colleagues . In 2001 and 2003 he published comic novels in the Irish language . He then worked in various films for animation and as an art director.

For his film Brendan and the Secret of Kells (orig. The Secret of Kells ) from 2009, in which he not only directed and produced, but also contributed to the script and soundtrack, Moore was awarded an Oscar in 2010 nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film category. The film received further nominations for best film at the Annecy Film Festival and the Irish Film and Television Awards and for best animated film at the European Film Awards . Awards for best animated film were given at the Boulder International Film Festival and the Irish Film and Television Awards . Brendan and the Secret of Kells won audience awards at the Annecy Film Festival , the Dublin International Film Festival and the Edinburgh International Film Festival . In addition, Moore was honored as best producer with the Cartoon d'Or at the Cartoon Forum Awards .
