Tomo Sugawara ( Japanese 菅原 智 , Sugawara Tomo ; born June 3, 1976 in Hokkaido ) is a former Japanese football player .

Career

Sugawara learned to play football in the Verdy Kawasaki youth team . He signed his first contract with Verdy Kawasaki (today: Tokyo Verdy) in 199 . The club played in the highest league in the country, the J1 League . In 1995 he was runner-up in the J1 League with the club. In 1996 he won the Kaiser Cup with the club . For the club he completed 51 first division games. In 1999 he moved to FC Santos . In 2000 he moved to the first division club Vissel Kobe . For the club he completed 114 first division games. In 2006 he moved to the second division club Tokyo Verdy . In 2007 he was runner-up in the J2 League with the club and was promoted to the J1 League. At the end of the 2008 season, the club was relegated to the J2 League. For the club he completed 115 games. At the end of 2011 he ended his career as a football player.
