The Dark Polo Gang (DPG) is an Italian Trap - group from Rome .

history

The group was formed in 2014 as a rap collective in Rome. She made her debut with the song Hypervenom . Right from the start she sought to be close to the Italian trap scene and worked with Sfera Ebbasta , for example . Sick Luke (Luca Antonio Barker), who is very well known in trap circles, acted as their producer. The group released Full Metal Dark for free download in 2015 as their first album . The Dark Polo Gang grew in popularity on social media and attracted attention with elaborate and provocative music videos and their extravagant clothing style. At the end of 2016 they gave an interview to the show Nemo on Rai 2 . The recurring motif of her texts is money, according to her own statement, there is no deeper meaning. They also reacted to heavy criticism, especially from the hip-hop scene, in their songs, for example in sportswear .

With the song Caramelle , the group immediately reached number three in the Italian charts in 2017. At the end of June, the Dark Polo Gang made it to the top of the chart with the first commercially released album Twins (distributed by Artist First ). At the beginning of 2018, the second album Sick Side was released by Universal , which, however, could not quite build on the success of the predecessor. Only Trap Lovers made the jump to the top of the chart. In 2019 a new edition of the album was released, in 2020 the group returned with the mixtape Dark Boys Club .
