I am in you is a song by the German hard rock band Böhse Onkelz . The song is the only single from their seventh studio album Heilige Lieder and was released on October 19, 1992. It is the first official single that the band released. In addition to the original version of the piece as a ballad , it was published in 2001 on the compilation Yesterday was this morning as a faster rock version with the same text.
Content and background
The song evokes the strong solidarity between the Böhse Onkelz and their fans. The band describes their songs as part of their lives that they give to their fans. But she also asks the questions "Do you really know who I am, how I think, how I feel?" And "Do you love me because it is me or because I lie to you?" To express that many things are not so, as it appears.
Stephan Weidner commented on the song in a concert announcement to the fans as follows:
“A song that revolves a bit about our relationship here. Of course, the whole thing can be spread a little further, but in that case it's actually about you, about us, and about how we see each other. And although we see each other, we cannot actually look behind the other person's facade. "
