reception

Götz Kühnemund from the music magazine Rock Hard wrote in issue no.125 in 1997 about Live in Dortmund :

“On November 23rd last year, the ONKELZ played in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle in front of an impressive backdrop and are now releasing the corresponding live double album. From the opener 'Here are the Onkelz' to the last piece of 'Remembrance' (total playing time: a good two hours) there is a mood that can hardly be topped. The only comparison I can think of would be a football game in the sold-out Westfalenstadion - and that is, what a coincidence, right next to the Westfalenhalle. The highlights of this representative double album (which, by the way, is also available as a video) are as numerous as the 'Onkelz, Onkelz' chants of the fans that are repeated between the songs: 'Nothing is for eternity', 'Hated, damned, adored' , 'Holy songs', 'We haven't got enough', 'Kings for a day', 'Find the truth', 'Only the best die young', 'Thank you for nothing' ... - the list goes extend quite a bit. Many numbers sound better and more powerful live than their studio versions, and the comparison with rock'n'roll legends like Rose Tattoo or Motörhead is absolutely justified. If certain hollow heads with muscle twitching in their right arm realized that they were not wanted at concerts like this, the ONKELZ world would be fine! "
