Something for nothing is a song by the German hard rock band Böhse Onkelz . The song is the only single from their 16th studio album Memento and was released on October 21, 2016 for download only .

content

The song is a criticism of the consumer society , which is characterized by envy and greed. The question is raised: “Why do we need what we never had?” And it is pointed out that true friends cannot be bought “and love cannot be had for money”. The refrain sums it all up: "Everyone wants everything, ideally for nothing".

Matthias Röhr described the piece on the band's official website as follows:

“Social criticism in a tough guise. Has something from the sacred songs album. "

- Matthias Röhr, Liner Notes for "Memento" (2016)

production

The lyrics of the song were written by Stephan Weidner , the head and bassist of the band. Weidner also took over the production together with the guitarist of the Onkelz, Matthias Röhr and the music producer Michael Mainx, who acted as co-producer.
