(2011)

Yesterday was still tomorrow is the second official best-of album by the German rock band Böhse Onkelz . It was released on March 5, 2001 on the band's own music label Rule23 Recordings . The compilation contains the three CDs Yesterday , Today and Tomorrow . The name of the collection goes back to the song of the same name, which first appeared on the album Heilige Lieder in 1992 . There are a total of 47 songs on the three CDs.

Cover design

The cover is black, in the middle there is a symbol with the typical font Böhse Onkelz and the abbreviation BO in the middle . At the bottom of the symbol there is a "20 years Onkelz" emblem. This emblem was put on the first edition of the box and it was rarely correct. Mostly it hung crooked, which is why it was printed from the second edition.

content

The first two CDs contain songs from the band's albums from 1988 to 2000. The third CD contains older songs as well as new recordings ( A man like you and me , Heut Nacht and Das Tier in mir ) and rock Variants of the title Once again a day was given away and I am in you . There are also titles that were previously only to be found on single releases ( 11/97 and Use me ). There is also a live version of memories on the CD, which was recorded at the concert in Berlin during the 2000 tour.

Background information on individual songs

11/97

The title was originally only intended as an accessory for the tickets in CD form that were available for the 1998 tour. In this version, Stephan announced the new tour at the beginning of the piece, after which the title began. At first the piece was still nameless, later it was titled as "11/97" on the single from the 1998 album Viva los Tioz , Turpentin . The title most likely refers to the time the piece was written, which in this case must have been November 1997. In this single release, the booklet also said “Text: Stephan Weidner”, which was later referred to as a graphic artist's mistake, as the piece is an instrumental and therefore contains no text at all.
