Onkelz vs. Jesus is a song by the German hard rock band Böhse Onkelz . The song is the only single from their 15th studio album Adios and was released on June 21, 2004.

Content and background

The song ironically juxtaposes the awareness of the Böhse Onkelz with that of Jesus Christ . The band doesn't take their image as seriously as some of the German media did. In addition, she looks back on the 24-year history of the band, which was often controversial, sometimes haphazard and success so unpredictable.

Lyrically, the Onkelz review their career that began on the streets. They were "stupid but self-confident" and clashed with gangs and the police. At that time they had “no goal and no plan”, but today they are a “phenomenon” and “better known than Jesus” despite critical media coverage.

production

The lyrics of the song were written by Stephan Weidner , the head and bassist of the band. Weidner also took over the production together with the guitarist of the Onkelz, Matthias Röhr and the music producer Michael Mainx, who acted as co-producer.

Music video
