Lügenmarsch is an EP by the German rock band Böhse Onkelz . It consists mainly of songs from the previous album Kneipenterroristen and was released in the summer of 1989 on the Metal Enterprises label .

History of origin

Metal Enterprises decided in 1989 to release a picture disc of the Böhsen Onkelz and put the band under pressure. This actually wanted to concentrate on a new album to get out of the contract with Nowotny. Eventually, however, they gave in to pressure from the record company. Label boss Ingo Nowotny chose four songs from the previous album Kneipenterroristen and three songs that were recorded during the recording sessions but had not yet been released.

Cover design

The cover of the EP shows a black and white photo of the four band members. In the upper part of the picture are the words Lügenmarsch and Böhse Onkelz .

Versions

Originally the EP was conceived as a pure picture disc. This was pressed in 23 different versions, most recently in 1999. The A-side shows an old tape photo of the Böhsen Onkelz, the B-side shows the product information. Despite the plan to only publish a vinyl version, a CD version was soon pressed with a black and white cover instead of the color photo .

After years of litigation, the Onkelz managed to regain the rights to this album. The album was then reissued on Onkelz's own label Regel23 Recordings .

Background information on individual songs

Kings for a day

Fraa Rauscher mentioned in this song was a city original of Frankfurt am Main and the subject of several dialect songs . Today there is a fountain in her honor in Klappergasse in Frankfurt.

March of lies

Just like “Kings for a Day”, “Lügenmarsch” should appear on the album “Kneipenterroristen” first. In this song there is a first swipe at the press ("For the people from the press and such, a few more lies for the newspaper on the toilet").

A good friend

A good friend was later used as a CD bonus track for the album Kneipenterroristen . It's a cover version of a song from the movie Die Drei von der Gasstelle .
