Tony Jagitsch , actually Anton Jagitsch , (born August 19, 1948 in Eggenburg ) is an Austrian jazz musician . In addition to the clarinet, he also plays the saxophone and drums .

Live and act

Jagitsch spent his school days in Vienna. From 1968 to 1972 he studied clarinet at the Vienna Conservatory . In the period from 1968 to 1979 Jagitsch worked as a clarinetist and saxophonist in various orchestras, Dixielandbands and headed the Vienna All Star Big Band . From 1972 to 1984 he gave music lessons for young talents. In the 9th Wr. Bez. A youth wind orchestra with the scout group 21, which after 5 years became the best youth wind orchestra in Vienna. During this time he already gave his first 2 concerts abroad at the brass music festival in Merano.

In 1984 he founded and directed the Swing Time Big Band and the Tony Jay and his Orchestra dance orchestra . From 1992 to 2000 he was invited to the Musikantenstadl a total of seven times. A separate film was shot in Carinthia on Lake Millstatt. This was followed by TV appearances on ZDF in Mainz, at Marianne and Michael etc. In 1997 the amateur orchestra Swing Time Big Band became a professional orchestra and he and the orchestra returned to the Glenn Miller Festival in Clarinda / IOWA - the birthplace of Glenn in 1998 and 2000 Miller invited. In between there followed many tours in Germany, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Switzerland.

On December 18, 2006, as President of the European Glenn Miller Institute, he was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art for his commitment to the preservation and care of Glenn Miller's work. He is married and has a daughter.
