Tony Kett (born June 1, 1951 in Ballinasloe , County Galway , † April 19, 2009 in Dublin ) was an Irish politician of the Fianna Fáil and from 1997 until his death senator in the Seanad Éireann .

Kett attended St. Joseph's College in Ballinasloe and later the College of Commerce in Rathmines , Dublin. In 1988 he was elected to Dublin City Council , the Dublin City Council , to take the vacant seat of Bertie Ahern . He had resigned his mandate there due to his election as Taoiseach . In 2004, Kett could no longer stand for election to the Dublin City Council due to the ban on the dual mandate , as he had been elected to the 21st Seanad Éireann in 1997 and was still a member.

November 2009 his party colleague James Carroll filled Kett's vacant seat in the Seanad Éireann. This was possible without a by-election because the other parties did not have their own candidates.

Kett was married and has a son and two daughters.
