James Carroll (politician, 1983)

James Carroll (born August 21, 1983 in Drogheda , County Louth ) is an Irish politician ( Fianna Fáil ) and since November 2009 Senator in the Seanad Éireann .

James Carroll grew up with his two sisters in Monasterboice , County Louth. He studied at University College Dublin and graduated in 2007. During his time at UCD, he was President of the UCD Students' Union from 2005 to 2006 .

In November 2009 Carroll moved up for the late Senator Tony Kett in the 23rd Seanad Éireann and filled his vacant seat there again. A by-election was not necessary because the other parties had given up their own candidates. Carroll resigned from the Louth County Council , into which he had previously been elected in June 2009. At the time of his appointment as Senator, he was the youngest member of the Irish Parliament .
