Tony Powell (athlete)
Tony Powell (actually Anthony Joseph Burwood Powell; born September 13, 1943 in Thetford , United Kingdom ) is a former Canadian sprinter .
In 1970 at the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh he reached the quarter-finals over 100 m , the semi- finals over 200 m and was fourth in the 4-by-400-meter relay .
At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, he retired from the Canadian 4 x 400 meter relay in the preliminary run.
In 1969 he was Canadian champion over 200 m and in 1969 and 1970 over 400 m. He set his personal best over 400 m of 47.0 s in 1972.
