La Saulsotte is a French commune with 704 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . The place belongs to the arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine and the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine . The community is also part of the Nogentais community association founded in 2006 . The inhabitants are called Saultiers / Saultières .
geography
La Saulsotte is located around 50 kilometers northwest of Troyes and around 91 kilometers southeast of Paris in the north-west of the Aube department on the border with the Seine-et-Marne department . The community consists of the villages of Courtioux, La Saulsotte and Resson, the hamlet of Liours (with Chapelle Saint-Parres) and individual farms.
Neighboring municipalities are Beauchery-Saint-Martin and Louan-Villegruis-Fontaine (both in the Seine-et-Marne department) in the north-west, Montpothier in the north-east, Barbuise in the east, Marnay-sur-Seine in the south-east, Nogent-sur-Seine and Saint- Nicolas-la-Chapelle in the southwest and Chalautre-la-Grande (in the Seine-et-Marne department) in the west.
history
As the menhir shows, the area has been inhabited since the Neolithic. The village of Resson is first mentioned by name in the 9th century. In the Middle Ages Resson was a Coming of the Knights Templar . Until the French Revolution, La Saulsotte was within the province of Champagne . The parish belonged to the district of Nogent-sur-Seine from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine. From 1801 to 2015, the municipality was within the canton of Villenauxe-la-Grande (until 1957 only Villenauxe).
