The place belongs to the arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine and the canton of Creney-près-Troyes . Saint-Mesmin is located on the Seine River around 20 kilometers northwest of Troyes in the northwest of the Aube department. The commune consists of the villages of Saint-Mesmin and Courlanges.
Neighboring communities are Vallant-Saint-Georges in the northwest and north, Droupt-Saint-Basle in the northeast, Rilly-Sainte-Syre in the east, Savières in the southeast, Fontaine-les-Grès in the south, Échemines in the southwest and Orvilliers-Saint-Julien in the West.
history
Until the French Revolution, Saint-Mesmin was within the province of Champagne . The community belonged to the Arcis-sur-Aube district from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton Chauchigny. From 1801 to 2015, the municipality was within the canton of Méry-sur-Seine .
