Saint-Aubin is a French commune with 588 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . The place belongs to the arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine and the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine . The community is also part of the Nogentais community association founded in 2006 . The inhabitants are called Saint Aubinois (es) .
geography
Saint-Aubin is located on the Ardusson River around 43 kilometers northwest of Troyes and around 98 kilometers southeast of Paris in the northwest of the Aube department. The community consists of the village of Saint-Aubin, the hamlet of La Crouillère and individual farmhouses.
Neighboring municipalities are Marnay-sur-Seine in the north, Pont-sur-Seine in the north-east, Ferreux-Quincey in the south-east, Avant-lès-Marcilly in the south, Fontaine-Mâcon in the west and Nogent-sur-Seine in the north-west.
history
Until the French Revolution, Saint-Aubin was within the province of Champagne . The parish belonged to the district of Nogent-sur-Seine from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Pont. The municipality has been within the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine since 1801. Until 1801 the community was called Saint Aubin. In 1832 the community of La Chapelle-Godefroix (1821: 57 inhabitants) was incorporated.

meteorite
In 1968 an iron meteorite of type IIIAB weighing around 472 kilograms was found near Saint-Aubin . The meteorite consisted of five fragments that emerged while plowing a field.
