Fontaine-Mâcon is a French commune with 652 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . The place belongs to the arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine and the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine . The community is also part of the Nogentais community association founded in 2006 . The inhabitants are called Mâconais (es) .

geography

Fontaine-Mâcon is located around 46 kilometers northwest of Troyes and around 96 kilometers southeast of Paris in the northwest of the Aube department. The community consists of the village of Fontaine-Mâcon and a few individual farms.

Neighboring municipalities are Nogent-sur-Seine in the north, Saint-Aubin in the northeast, Avant-lès-Marcilly in the southeast, Soligny-les-Étangs in the southwest and Bouy-sur-Orvin in the west.

history

Until the French Revolution, Fontaine-Mâcon was within the province of Champagne . The parish belonged to the district of Nogent-sur-Seine from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine. The municipality has been within the canton of Nogent-sur-Seine since 1793. First the community was named Macon, later until 1903 the name Mâcon.
