Fontaine-les-Grès is a French commune with 876 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aube department in the Grand Est region . The place belongs to the arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine and the canton of Creney-près-Troyes . Fontaine-les-Grès is located around 19 kilometers north-west of Troyes in the north-west of the Aube department. The municipality consists of the two villages of Fontaine and Les Grès.

history
Until the French Revolution, Fontaine-les-Grès was within the province of Champagne . The parish belonged to the district of Nogent-sur-Seine from 1793 to 1801. Since 1801 it has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Nogent-sur-Seine. From 1793 to 1801 the place was assigned to the canton of Marigny. Then from 1801 to 1973 the canton of Romilly (sur-Seine). And from 1973 to 2015 the municipality was within the canton of Méry-sur-Seine .
