Tony Rodd

Anthony Norman Rodd or Tony Rodd (born August 24, 1940 ) is an Australian horticultural botanist and plant photographer.

Leionema sp. 'Colo River'

His main interest is the classification and nomenclature of ornamental plants. He worked for many years at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney . In 2000 discovered Rodd one occurrence of the 1960s no longer detected species of the genus Leionema from the family of Rutaceae (Rutaceae), which up to the award of a valid taxon named after its locality working name Leionema sp. 'Colo River' wears.

Rodd is the co-author of books on palm trees and rainforest gardens. He has written articles for the Australian Encyclopedia and The Ultimate Book of Trees & Shrubs , among others . He was also involved as chief advisor in the English-language original edition of the Botanica plant lexicon .

As a plant photographer, he created his own archive of plant slides, from which over 2000 pictures have already been published in books. He is also involved in the creation of a database on plants introduced to Australia early on.
