Tony Young (actor)

Carleton "Tony" Leonard Young (born June 28, 1937 in New York City , † February 26, 2002 in Hollywood ) was an American actor .

Life

The son of the radio actor Carleton G. Young graduated from Los Angeles City College and served in the US Air Force. He was employed as a page at NBC and began his acting career in 1959 in western television series such as Bronco , Overland Trail and At the foot of the blue mountains . In 1961 he starred in the short-lived weekly series Gunslinger . Smaller roles in cinema wests followed. From the late 1960s, Young shifted to character roles, especially in action-oriented films, other westerns and blaxploitation works. He was also in demand as a guest actor for television. He retired from acting in the early 1990s and died of lung cancer in 2002 . Young was married to actresses Connie Mason , Madlyn Rhue and Sondra Currie . All three marriages were childless and ended in divorce. A daughter emerged from his longstanding relationship with Kathy Balaban.
