The song is about a broken relationship between the protagonist and his partner or girlfriend. The song is played from the point of view of the friend who accuses the protagonist of making a fool of her. She says that he would only beg her to come back to him, but she also says that it is already a little too late and that he missed his chance. It is also said that he dreams of her face and that he always finds the right words, whereby she thinks that what he is doing is wrong. She loves herself for making the decision to leave and challenges him to find someone else. She later testifies that she could still love him with all her heart, even if she gave him more than he gave her. Still, she says that she doesn't want to have anything to do with a player and that it was fate that this decision was made by her.

Music video
The video begins with a comparison between the singer and her boyfriend David (played by Mike Zaher ), who was caught talking to another girl during a college party while holding drinks in his hands. She is very upset afterwards. In the following scene she is sitting next to a window in her room. She walks across the room and looks at photos that remind her of the time they spent together and how ungrateful he was in those situations. David receives a call from her, which he ignores and instead chats with several girls . It later stands on a car that is only a few meters from David's house. He runs to her and hugs her. Then rain sets in. The end of the video takes place in front of the window of the singer's room.
In addition to Mike Zaher, who played the male lead, his teammates from the UCLA Bruins soccer team also played in the video , including a. the future US international Salvatore Zizzo . JoJo announced on MySpace that she wanted to arouse interest in football with this video. The soccer scenes were filmed at Weingart Stadium at East Los Angeles College.
The video first appeared in the UK on October 14, 2006 .
Commercial win
"Too Little Too Late" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 in 90th place. In the fifth week, the song climbed from 66th place to third place on the US charts and made the third-largest jump in the history of the Billboard Hot 100. It is her first and so far only song to reach the top ten and the top 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. This song was Jojo's commercial breakthrough.
"Too Little Too Late" was # 10 among the top-selling songs in the US in 2006.
In the British charts , the song reached number 4 in the charts through download sales alone.
