from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Topic is a monthly, German-language information sheet with a Christian fundamentalist tendency.

background

Topic was founded in 1980 by Klaus Gerth and editorially managed. In the first ten years the magazine achieved a monthly circulation of around 10,000 and attracted well-known subscribers such as Axel Springer . In 1993 the magazine was taken over by Ulrich Skambraks and continued. According to its own statements, the publication wants to provide believing Christians with information in order to remain as true to the Bible as possible . The focus is on politics, religion, society, economy, culture, current affairs and science.

The current issues can only be obtained through a subscription. An archive CD-ROM is also available.

criticism

Topic is controversial within the Christian churches and is also viewed critically by leading evangelicals .

In rare cases, facts are also adopted unchecked. In Topic 7/2004, for example, it was claimed that there were RFID chips hidden in TÜV badges , which, in retrospect, turned out to be an April Fool's joke by c't magazine .

Articles are published more often without further details of the source; However, subscribers can receive background material free of charge. Homosexuality , Freemasonry (“opponent of Jesus Christ”), occultism , the Willow Creek parish , the Christian Alpha course , the Volx Bible and the book “ Living with Vision ” are criticized .

The Free Theological University of Giessen described the style of reporting by Topic after critical reporting on the university as "disinformation from the right".
