Topo Gigio, the space mouse (overlay as Topo Gigio - The Space Mouse ; Japanese 夢見 る ト ッ ポ ・ ジ ー ジ ョ , Yume Miru Toppo Jījo , dt. "Dreaming Topo Gigio") is a 34-part Japanese anime series from 1988, produced by Nippon Animation . The series is based on an Italian children's program with dolls that aired in the 1960s.

Topo Gigio

The character was invented by Maria Perego in 1958 and was played in a costume by Giuseppe (Peppino) Mazzullo. The mouse was widely used on television as well as in magazines, cartoons and as merchandising. After the series was shown in the United States on the Ed Sullivan Show , it became known worldwide. It has also been shown in Latin America and Japan. The character still appears regularly on Zecchino d'Oro as well as on other programs of Radiotelevisione Italiana . In 1965 the film Le Avventure di topo Gigio was shown in cinemas in Italy and other countries. Furthermore, Topo Gigio accompanied the television entertainment show "Music from Studio B" with Chris Howland in 1964 under the name "Mäuserich Mike Molto".

Anime

In 1988, Nippon Animation's anime television series Yume miru Topo Gigio followed . Between July 9, 2003 and March 31, 2004, another 38-part anime series called Topo Gigio Gekijō ( ト ッ ポ ・ ジ ー ジ ョ 劇場 , dt. "Topo-Gigio-Theater") appeared on Kids Station . Publication was supplemented by 6 more episodes.
