The Toqi Sarrofon (dome bazaar of money changers) is a bazaar building in the Uzbek city ​​of Buxoro .

The bazaar is located in the historic center of Buxoro at the intersection of two streets directly southwest of the Labi Hovuz building complex , about 100 meters southeast of the Magoki Attori mosque and about 200 meters southeast of Toqi Telpak Furushon . The Schahrud , an old irrigation canal, flows north of the bazaar .

history

The Toqi Telpak Sarrofon was built at the end of the 16th century. Originally the money changers, mainly Hindus , exchanged money here and into foreign currencies, which was important for trading on the Silk Road . Carpets, scarves and souvenirs are now being offered for sale here.

The Toqi Sarrofon has a footprint of around 25 × 24 meters. The main dome with an inner diameter of 12 meters rests on four uncovered cross arches and carries a lantern .
