Toque (unit)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Toque was a Burmese measure of weight for gold and silver goods. The measure was valid in the province of Pegu , in which the coin of the same name was important as a dividing coin . It should not be confused with the much heavier Touque as a measure of weight.

Weight

The dimension designation can be translated as hundred parts.

  • 1 toque = 24/25 grams = 0.96 grams
  • 16 toques = 1 tical

The fineness of 96 toques corresponded to 23 carats of 0.48 Grän for gold and 15 lot 6.48 Grän for silver.

coin

In the province of Pegu there was also the coin of the same name as a dividing coin. A toque was divided into 2 Ganzas.
