Tord Harlin

Tord Gösta Harlin (born May 30, 1935 ) is a Lutheran emeritus bishop of the Church of Sweden . He was the first bishop of Uppsala to serve alongside an archbishop .

Life

On October 7, 1990, Tord Harlin became the first bishop of the Diocese of Uppsala to hold the spiritual direction of the archbishopric alongside the archbishop. The diocese of Uppsala has had two bishops since 1990 , with the archbishop primarily taking on church leadership duties for the entire Church of Sweden. Tord Harlin's motto as bishop is: Sub Cruce Lumen (“Under the cross is light”).

Harlin was chairman of the Diocesan Board and conducted together with the Archbishop annual Pröbste- and priest and deacon meeting . In 1998 he signed a friendship agreement with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe .

Bishop Tord Harlin resigned the leadership of the diocese on May 7, 2000 during an evening service in Uppsala Cathedral , ending his term as bishop of the Uppsala diocese. His successor was Ragnar Persenius .

In retirement, Tord Harlin devoted himself to photography. He has exhibited in different countries and published several photo art books. Church and parish magazines enlist the help of photographer Harlin.
